Thank you
for your application, and
congratulations for having passed the
investigation step... you are
almost there! You
may or may not have been voted on yet,
however your next step in joining us, is
to be INDOCTRINATED... Simply
put, this is to explain to you what we
are all about and our major Charitable
works and State Project... or what Elks
do... This
is required BEFORE we can initiate you
into the Fraternity... and is very
important... imagine joining a Fraternal
Organization and not having any idea what
they do, what they stand for, or how they
impact the community ! Traditionally
new Elk candidates were brought into the
lodge for a "slide show" and "question and
answer" period... but much has changed
since those early days, and many
candidates for membership were unable to
free up an additional evening from family
or work to attend the indoctrination. My name is Tom Petro, and I am a Past Exalted Ruler of the 105 Lodge, and developed this "on line" indoctrination for your pleasure in gaining the knowledge required to be an Elk... please review the information, and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask via email, phone, or in person. Indoctrination is one of the things
very important to Elks... knowing what we do and a
bit about the Lodge etc. and National Fraternity.

the ENF video... and if you have ANY questions do
not hesitate to contact me or any of the officers.
The night of your initiation
usually you are asked to arrive no later than
8pm... |

| E.N.F. = ELKS NATIONAL
FOUNDATION Please watch these
short videos on the Elks National Foundation...
it will give you basic information about what the
ENF is about. The E.N.F. is
the major charity of the Elks National
Organization. They do good works in the
community thru scholarship programs and sports
programs for youth... also involved in community
affairs, and offer grants for use in charity

N.J.S.E.A.
= NEW JERSEY STATE ELKS ASSOCIATION We are part of the New
Jersey State Elks association... N.J.S.E.A. Our highest charity in the
State of NJ is our Special Children and Camp
Moore. Here is a link to Camp Moore
with lots of pictures etc. Each year we go up to Camp
Moore as the district, and assist for one day with
a picnic for the Children. |

Elks Association) is made up of various
districts around the state...
We are in the South West
District... The South West

what is going on at all of the lodges in our
district... and when the meetings are...
dinners... dances... events. For example, District
meetings are held MONTHLY at a different Lodge in
the district. and it is where the
information is distributed to the Chairs of each
of the Lodge committees. it is six meetings in one
night in one place... at the same time... and all Elks are welcome to
join... Committee Chairs are required to attend. You can sit 5 min in
one meeting then move on to another if you want to
see if there is one that is of interest. The meetings are as
follows: Americanism / National
Veterans Service / Army of HopeDrug Awareness This is the head line

SURVEY... what would
YOU like to do at our Lodge ? Last but not least...
attached is a “time and talent” survey... please
look it over, and as you read it... look at it as
something to think about... It is designed to give
an oversight of what goes on at the lodge... you
may find something that is of personal interest
which you might want to become involved in. These type of surveys
are used at the lodges in California, and I
believe they are a great way to introduce what
kinds of opportunities are at the Lodge, so I use
them too. |

requirement
prior to the
initiation
ceremony... so
